A Metropolitan Police officer has been praised for his bravery after he single-handedly tackled a knife-wielding suspect to the ground. PC Morgan Younger wrestled Fitzgerald Carty, 66, to the floor before disarming and restraining him while calling for backup at a petrol station in Lewisham at around 3pm on January 25. The 23-year-old officer was on patrol when he stopped at the petrol station to quickly buy a drink, the Met Police said. While at the entrance, he saw a man grab the victim around the throat and try to stab him with a large knife. PC Younger, who is part of the South East Command Unit and has five years’ service, immediately responded by bringing him to the floor and disarming him.
When a police officer came upon an overturned car on fire he knew he had to act quickly. Officer Pheng Ly’s body camera captured the whole scary encounter in Davis, California. Bystanders informed him that a woman was trapped inside. When he sees the woman, he calls for her to get out. Officer Ly said he could feel the heat on his face from the fire, that was spreading quickly through the car and the dry grass in the field. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.
